3/29/2023 1:35:00 PM

CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (8-7, 2-1 MVC) will compete at home this Friday, taking on Murray State before traveling to Nashville to play Belmont on Sunday.

The Flames go into the weekend with two-game win streak, defeating Northern Iowa on March 19 and Valparaiso the week after. They'll use the momentum to continue to climb up the Missouri Valley Conference rankings.

SCOUTING MURRAY STATE

Murray State is off to a good start in the MVC, with a record of 8-6 overall and 2-0 in conference. Murray State and Belmont were scheduled to face-off last Sunday, but the game was postponed. With that change, the Racers have not competed since March 19. The last team they played was Bradley, which ended in a 7-0 shut out. Murray State grabbed their other conference win against Valpo.
This will be the Flames and Racers first time playing each other, and both teams are new to the MVC.

SCOUTING BELMONT

Belmont's overall record is 5-10, while they remain undefeated in conference play (2-0). Meredith Roberts and Anastasiya Zholdakova are players to watch for, as they won flight three doubles at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships, which took place at the start of the season. The Racers most recently put up four points over Missouri State and kept them scoreless (4-0).

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE

It will be the Flames' first time playing at XS Tennis Village since Feb. 10. The team holds a 1-1 record in the facility, and a 3-1 overall home record.

The match against Murray State on Friday is set for 10 a.m. at the XS Tennis Village. Admission is free for spectators, and on-location parking is also available free of charge. At 10 a.m. on Sunday, UIC takes on Belmont at the Beaman Family Tennis Complex in Nashville, Tenn.
