NASSAU, Bahamas – The UIC men's basketball team will participate in the 2023 Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship, Nov. 24-26, at the Baha Mar Convention Center in Nassau, The Bahamas. 
 
"We are excited to be headed to the Bahamas this November to play in the Nassau Championship," commented Flames head coach Luke Yaklich. "It will be a great test for our guys early in the season against some great competition, and we are thrilled to be competing in such a great event at an even better location."
 
The Flames will compete in the Nassau Championship for the first time in program history. The complete field for the eight-team event, along with schedule and broadcast information will be announced at a later date. 
 
"Baha Mar Hoops" is the largest regular-season event in the sport of college basketball. Last year, 20 men's and women's team competed in 24 games over 10 days during the Thanksgiving holiday and 2023 could be even bigger. 
 
The Nassau Championship (Nov. 24-26) includes eight mid-major NCAA Division I men's programs. The Bahamas Championship (Nov. 17 and 19) annually features four highly competitive men's teams from "Power" conferences. The Pink Flamingo Championship (Nov. 20 and 22) is a non-bracketed event featuring some of the top women's programs in the nation.
