CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (9-9, 3-3 MVC) found themselves down early Friday afternoon in a matchup against Illinois State (13-6, 6-0 MVC). While the Flames fought back, their efforts would not be enough, falling 4-3 to the Redbirds.

SINGLES
- Zara Ryan couldn't hang on at No. 5 singles, losing 6-4, 6-3.
- At No. 3 singles, Natalia Nikolopoulou was outscored 7-5, 6-2, putting UIC down 3-0.
- Paula Rodriguez Gregoris grinded out a win at the sixth position. She won the first set (7-6), the tiebreaker, and second set (6-2).
- Ana Jover put another point on the board for the Flames, beating her opponent 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
- Agnes Gustafsson tied the match up by defeating MVC Singles Player of the Week (April 5), Tijana Zlatanovic. Gustafsson lost the first set and came back to win the second and third sets 6-2, 7-6, (2).
- The match came down to singles court No. 2, where Tamara Malazonia could not break Alexandra Abyasova's MVC singles win streak, losing in the third set (6-3, 3-6, 5-7).
