MUNCIE, Ind. (Sept. 19, 2023) – It was a historic afternoon for the UIC women's golf program as
Dasa Urbankova (Brno, Czech Republic/Menlo College) set the program record for lowest round under par, shooting a -4 (68) en route to claiming the individual title at the second annual Brittany Kelly Classic. The Flames finished in second place in the team standings, shooting +25 (889).
Megan Tang (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's) also placed in the top three, finishing with a +2 (218) across the three round event. For their efforts on the course, both Urbankova and Tang were named to the All-Tournament Team.
COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH ANGELA RAYHILL
"I'm so proud of our team, they played great golf. It was fun watching everyone grind it out and make birdie putts. They stayed composed out on the course and stayed positive.
Dasa Urbankova had an incredible round today and I can't express how happy I am for these women. I look forward to seeing how we continue to progress throughout the remainder of the fall season."
COMMENT FROM GRADUATE STUDENT DASA URBANKOVA
"Looking at my round today, even though I didn't have my best day off the tee, I made a few really strong putts and saved some pars and birdies on the course. I think one of the keys for me at this event was staying positive and keeping my composure throughout the rounds. It will be important for me to continue to do this next week in Colorado."
