Flames Finish UIC Invitational 2-1

Western Michigan Outmatched UIC Saturday Afternoon 3-1

CHICAGO (SEPT. 2, 2023) – The UIC volleyball team (5-1) fell short against Western Michigan (7-0) Saturday afternoon 3-1. The Flames finished the UIC Invitational 2-1.

COMMENT FROM UIC HEAD COACH JUSTIN INGRAM
"Our hope is we can put together something defensively that can challenge people greater than what we did today. There were glimpses of good things and batches of good point runs for us. We just have to be a bit more consistent as far as that is concerned. Kudos to Western Michigan, they are pretty good right now and this shows it."

  • Sophomore Ayat Amin led the attack for the Flames, earning all of her team-leading four kills early in the set.
  • Senior Abigail Sunga earned the Flames lone ace in the set, her third of the season.
  • Kills from sophomore Cleo Lorenzoseniors Zahria Woodard and Martina Delucchi pushed the Flames to take the Broncos past the 25th point before Western Michigan came away with the set point.
