LAST TIME OUT
UIC improved to 5-1 at home this year, outlasting Illinois State, 86-79 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Credit Union 1 Arena. It was the Flames' first win over the Redbirds since Nov. 23, 2015, and the fourth series win against Illinois State. It also marked UIC's second overtime win under second-year head coach
Ashleen Bracey and their first conference OT victory since 2013.
Senior forward
Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) led the way for UIC with 18 points and nine rebounds. Graduate student guard/forward
Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul) posted a double-double, scoring 11 points and adding 13 rebounds. Junior forward
Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) pitched in 14 points, while senior guard
Kristian Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) added 11.
Following McCloud's 18-point performance, she is now 12

RIMMER NAMED MVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
For the second time in a month, the MVC selected
Keimari Rimmer as the conference's Newcomer of the Week Tuesday. The versatile wing earned the same honor on Jan. 3 following her 21-point performance in UIC's conference opener at Belmont. Rimmer averaged 11.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in UIC's two MVC wins last week. Two days before her double-double performance against Illinois State, Rimmer added 12 points and nine rebounds in UIC's win over Bradley. For the season, Rimmer ranks among the top 20 in the MVC in steals (7th – 1.9 spg.), field-goal percentage (10th - .500), rebounding (18th – 6.1 rpg.) and scoring (20th – 10.9 ppg.).
SCOUTING EVANSVILLE
Evansville has been struggling to win this season, with only two victories out of 18 games. The Purple Aces' lone wins were over Chicago State (103-102 in triple overtime) and Lindenwood (70-68). UE has lost its last nine games and is still searching for a victory in league play (0-7 MVC), recently dropping contests at Missouri State (90-55) and Southern Illinois (99-60). Evansville's most notable conference performance to date was at Drake on Jan. 6, when the Purple Aces dropped a 78-68 decision.
Sophomore guard Kynidi Mason Striverson averages a team-high 13.9 points per game for Evansville, while graduate student forward Barbora Tomancova adds a team-best high 8.2 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING INDIANA STATE
Indiana State (6-11, 2-5) finished nearly at .500 in non-conference play with wins against Northern Kentucky (85-82 in overtime), Radford (64-52), Central Michigan (73-65) and SEMO (65-57). During the MVC season, the Sycamores have lost five of their last six, but recently won at Southern Illinois, 64-63 on Jan. 19, following a Dec. 30 win at Evansville (66-49).
Fifth-year post player Chelsea Cain leads Indiana State in scoring (10.7 ppg.), while redshirt senior forward Mya Glanton averages a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game for the Sycamores.
