SCOUTING BALL STATE
- The Cardinals men's and women's teams finished fifth in the Mid-American Conference last year.
- Ethan Pheifer was the best finisher for Ball State at last season's CSCAA National Invitational Championships, finishing 12th in the 100 individual medley
- Alexa Von Holtz (200 butterfly) and Payton Kelly (100 freestyle) are two swimmers to watch for the Cardinals, with both having top 10 finishes in last season's CSCAA National Invitational Championships.
FLAMES DIVE FACTS
- Last year in the season opener, The Flames men had a strong showing in both diving events against Ball State, taking four of the top five places, including the top three spots. Senior Cole Tremewan (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) won the one-meter event with 333.08 points. Junior Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Kentucky) scored 361.13 points to win the three-meter event for the Flames.
- In the opener last year the women competed against one another, Junior Kathryn Kleckza (Franklin, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels) posted a career-high total, that she later surpassed, on the three-meter board (239.78).

FLAMES SWIM FACTS
- Against the Cardinals at Flames Natatorium a season ago, sophomore James McCarthy (Minnetonka, Minn./DeLaSalle) collected his first collegiate win in the 400 individual medley with a 4:04.89 finish.
- Junior Madison Hemlick (Bingham Farms, Mich./Birmingham Groves) had a big first meet last year, winning three freestyle events for the Flames — 100 (53.18), 200 (1:54.53) and 500 (5:12.07).

FLAMES READY TO COMPETE– PRESEASON POLL RESULTS
- The men's team is coming off a fourth place finish in the MAC last season and is picked to finish fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.
- The women's team finished seventh in the MVC last season and are picked to finish seventh once again this season.
