CHICAGO (Oct. 7, 2024) – The UIC volleyball aims to bounce back amidst its five-match home stand in Missouri Valley Conference play Tuesday night, when they host Valparaiso (9-7, 1-3 MVC) for a 6 p.m. (CT) first serve.
The match will be available to stream on

UICFlames.com. Admission is free to the public, with doors opening one hour before first serve.
SCOUTING VALPARAISO
- This will be the 61st time both teams are set to meet on the volleyball court, with the Beacons having a 31-29 overall lead on the entire series. The Flames have gone 5-0 in the past five matchups, winning every meeting since joining the MVC in July 2022.
- The Beacons had a strong non-conference showing, going 8-4 with wins against SIUE, IU Indy and Northern Illinois. They are in search of their first conference win since Sept. 28, when they swept Indiana State (3-13, 0-4 MVC) on the road.
- Valparaiso ranks amongst the top three in the Valley in points (17.32), assists per set (12.68), kills per set (13.48), blocks per set (2.14), service aces per set (1.70) and digs per set (17.49).
- Averaging 5.84 digs per set, junior libero Emma Hickey ranks third in the entire NCAA, having collected 362 digs so far in the season.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP
- The Flames opened up the five-match home stand with back-to-back defeats to Drake (8-7, 4-0 MVC) and UNI (9-7, 4-0 MVC) over the weekend.
- Junior Cleo Lorenzo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Elite) led the Flames on the attack in back-to-back matches. Lorenzo tallied a collegiate-high 16 kills against Drake, followed by an eight-kill performance against UNI Saturday.
- Graduate student Zahria Woodard (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) tallied eight total blocks over the weekend. The middle blocker leads The Valley with 74 total blocks in the season, and second in blocks per set (1.17).
- Junior Francesca Venturini (Bergamo, Italy/ Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi) collected three more service aces over the weekend. She now has 11 aces against Missouri Valley Conference opponents, and a team-leading 24 over the season.
