SCOUTING GREEN BAY

  • This will be 86th time the Flames and the Phoenix are set to battle it out on the hardwood. UIC is in search of its first win against Green Bay since its 81-72 victory at home in Jan. 2010.
  • A season ago, the Flames took a one-point lead late in the third quarter, but couldn't hold on down the stretch, falling to the Phoenix on the road, 64-56 on Dec. 13. UIC was led in scoring by senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) and graduate student Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) each scored a dozen points apiece.
  • The reigning 2023-24 Horizon League Champions are in search of their first win in non-conference play, recently falling to Missouri Valley Conference member Northern Iowa (2-0) Saturday afternoon at home.
  • Senior Natalie McNeal has been the focus point in the offense for Green Bay, already having scored in double figures in both games this season. Averaging 13.5 ppg, McNeal ranks 13th in the Horizon League.

LAST GAME RECAP – vs. Cincinnati

  • In their home opener, the Flames couldn't fend off Cincinnati (2-0) at Credit Union 1 Arena on Nov. 5, falling 66-54.
  • Middleton led all Flames scorers with 10 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists. The graduate student has scored in double figures in 26 games in her tenure at UIC dating back to the 2022-23 season.
  • The Flames best quarter came in the second, shooting 72.7% from the field and outscored the Bearcats 22-18 entering halftime.
  • Graduate student Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) grabbed 12 rebounds in 34 minutes of play to earn her 14th double-digit rebound performance of her collegiate career.
