VALPARAISO, Ind. (Nov. 18, 2024) – The UIC volleyball team (20-9, 12-5 MVC) finishes up Missouri Valley Conference play on the road Tuesday night, slated to face off against Valparaiso (17-12, 9-8 MVC) at the Athletics-Recreation Complex for a 6 p.m. (CT) first serve.

- Last the programs met on the volleyball court, the Flames secured a three-set sweep at Credit Union 1 Arena on Oct. 8. Junior Cleo Lorenzo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Elite) secured a dozen kills, 10 digs and three blocks in the win. Graduate student Zahria Woodard (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest) tallied eight total blocks in the win.
- The Flames look to extend their win streak against the Beacons to seven matches, winning every contest since UIC joined the MVC in July 2022. Valparaiso remains ahead in the overall series however, 31-30.
- The Beacons aim to continue their momentum having won their past five matches at home at the ARC.
- Freshman Ava Helming continues to show promise for Valparaiso, recently winning MVC Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week on Oct. 28. She is second on the team in kills with 260 this season.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP – vs. EVANSVILLE/INDIANA STATE

- The Flames closed out their home schedule strong last weekend, earning sweeping victories over Evansville (6-23, 5-12 MVC) and Indiana State (4-25, 1-16 MVC) at Credit Union 1 Arena.
- Woodard led the attack against the Aces Friday night, collecting nine kills and a pair of blocks. Lorenzo, graduate student Natalie Chizzo (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest/Northwestern) and Antonie Kelnárová (Prague, Czech Republic) each tallied eight kills in the win.
- Sophomore Gabi Peter (Gilbert, Ill./Hampshire) earned her seventh double-digit kill performance with a dozen kills against the Sycamores Saturday. Chizzo repeated her offensive performance, contributing another eight kills in the win.
- After a strong weekend at home, the Flames managed to secure the No. 3 seed for the third consecutive year in the 2024 MVC Volleyball Championship at the McCleod Center in Cedar Falls, Ia. from Nov. 23-26.
- Back-to-back wins this win secured head coach Justin Ingram's fourth consecutive 20+ win season at UIC, and his fifth since taking over the program in 2017.
