KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Nov 6, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team (7-9, 3-5 MVC) closed out the regular season on Wednesday afternoon, as the Flames played their first day game of the regular season against Western Michigan (11-1-6, 3-1-4 MVC).
In the midst of a back and forth first 45 minutes of play, the Broncos snagged a late first half go-ahead goal in the 39
th minute to take a slim lead into the locker room. The Flames showed great resilience in the second half, as
Darrell Turcios' (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) third goal of the season in the 75
th minute brought the match level. Western Michigan answered just six minutes later however, netting the match winner in the 81
st minute.

Despite a tight defeat in Wednesday's season finale, the Flames have earned the #6 seed in the upcoming 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championships. The Flames will play a road match in the quarterfinals on Sunday, with an opponent and kick-off time to be determined based on tonight's results around the MVC.
