Women’s Basketball Travels Across Town to Face off Against DePaul

The Flames and Blue Demons are set to battle for the first time since 2010.

CHICAGO (Dec. 12, 2024) – The UIC women's basketball team (2-4) remains close to home, facing off against DePaul (3-7) in a road match-up at Wintrust Arena for a 7 p.m. (CT) first tip. MATCH-UP HISTORY
 
  • This will be the 44th time the Flames and Blue Demons are set to compete. It will also be the first match-up in over 14 years since the two programs clashed. The Blue Demons won in the last meeting in an 87-66 victory over the Flames at Credit Union 1 Arena (formerly UIC Pavilion) on Nov. 23, 2010.
  • The Flames are in search of their first win over the Blue Demons since Jan. 21, 1981, and their first win over a power program since their 58-56 victory over Wisconsin on the road on Dec. 21, 2013.
 
SCOUTING DEPAUL
 
  • The Blue Demons are in search of their first win in over a month, having collected wins only against Winona State, Mercyhurst and Loyola-Chicago.
  • Graduate student Jorie Allen is among some of the top scorers in the Big East, averaging 18.0 PPG, ranking her fourth in the conference.
  • Redshirt-Junior Meg Newman is among some of the best on the boards in conference, averaging 7.50 per game. The Blue Demons lead the Big East in offensive rebounding, averaging 14.80 per game.
 
NORTH CENTRAL RECAP
  • The Flames closed out last weekend with a historic 113-53 victory over North Central at Credit Union 1 Arena Sunday afternoon.
  • The team broke a program record in total points in a single game, surpassing 104 points in wins over Chicago State (104-49, Nov. 29, 1993) and Robert Morris – Springfield (104-26, Jan. 2, 2015).
  • UIC also broke four separate records under third-year head coach Ashleen Bracey's tenure. They set new highs in points (113), steals (23), assists (30), field goals made (30) and field goal percentage (61.7%).
  • Graduate student Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill. Richwoods) secured her first double-double of the season with an 18-point, 10-rebound performance. Sitting at 1,412 career points, McCloud is now 13 points away from moving up eighth in career points, surpassing UIC Hall of Famer Sharon Carroll (1977-80), who scored 1,425 points.
  • Graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/ DePaul) collected 17 points, five rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes of play. Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) sank all eight of her shot attempts, scoring 16.
  • In just her second game of her collegiate career, freshman Chantrel, "Tutu" Clayton set a new career high in points (10), assists (5), steals (5) and minutes (12) in Sunday's win over North Central.
