SCOUTING OHIO
- This will be the second time these teams are set to compete, and the first time in over a decade. In their last match-up, the Flames secured a 76-67 victory over the Bobcats at the San Juan Shootout in Puerto Rico on Nov. 29, 2013. Future UIC Hall of Famer (Class of 2023) Ruvanna Campbell led the Flames in scoring, collecting 24 points and 18 rebounds in the win.
- The Bobcats are in search of their first win since Dec. 3, having fallen to Butler (69-60) on Dec. 8 and Saint Louis (96-52) on Dec. 15. Their lone wins this season came against George Washington (52-40) on Nov. 16 and Ohio Christian (97-37) on Dec. 3.
- Ohio is coming off of an 11-19 showing a season ago, going 8-10 against Mid-American Conference opponents. Senior Kennedi Watkins and junior Jaya McClure earned All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades. Sophomore Bailey Tabeling was named to the All-MVC Freshman team.
- Watkins continues to be impactful for the Bobcats, leading the team in scoring. The senior averages 15.5 points per game, ranking her fourth in the MAC.
LAST TIME OUT – NO. 5 LSU
- The Flames went to battle against one of the top teams in the country, falling to No. 5 LSU (14-0) 91-73 Thursday night.
- Senior Arin Freeman (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock North/Central Carolina) led the Flames with a 19-point performance, collecting six rebounds and four assists. Senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/Marquette) scored 15 points in 22 minutes of play.
- UIC sank 11 three-pointers, shooting 45% (11-for-24) from beyond the arc. That ties a season-high and a game-high under third year head coach Ashleen Bracey, tying earlier at home against Green Bay on Nov. 13 and in a 63-53 win over Davidson on Nov. 22, 2022. Senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin) led the team from the three-point line, with all of four of her makes coming from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points.
- 4,322 fans were in attendance for the game, shattering a 19-year-old record for largest attendance for a UIC women's basketball game in program history. Thursday night's game surpassed a crowd of 2,920 fans that were in attendance against to see UIC secure a 74-70 victory over Butler on Feb. 9, 2005.
