Women’s Basketball Preps for Sunday Matinee Match-Up Against North Central

The Flames return home to Credit Union 1 Arena for the first time since Nov. 13.

CHICAGO (Dec. 7, 2024) – The UIC women's basketball team (1-4) returns to Credit Union 1 Arena for the first time in nearly a month to host neighboring North Central (4-3) Sunday afternoon for a noon (CT) first tip.
 
The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ with live stats available at UICFlames.com. Fans are also encouraged to listen to the game for free on the Flames Network.

SCOUTING NORTH CENTRAL
  • This will be the second time the Flames and Cardinals are set to compete, and the first time in the Flames NCAA DI era. The Flames have won the lone meeting, defeating the Cardinals on the road on Feb. 28, 1981, in an 87-73 victory.
  • North Central (DIII) is coming off a 66-62 defeat against #22 UChicago on Wednesday.  The Cardinals have four wins so far in the season, with wins against Nebraska Wesleyan, Benedictine, Saint Mary's College (Ind.) and Concordia (Wis.).
  • Sophomore Jocelyn Trotter earned College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's Player of the Week honors earlier in the week. The guard averaged 19 points and 12.5 rebounds per game to lead the CCIW over the past week. Trotter scored a season-high 22 points in the win against Benedictine College (Nov. 26) and grabbed a season-best 14 rebounds against Concordia (Wis.) on Nov. 30.
  • The Cardinals rank second in the CCIW in offense (76.9 PPG), first in field goal percentage (44.7%) and assists per game (18.29).
  • UIC is North Central's second opponent of the weekend with the Cardinals set to face off at home today at Greagory Arena at 5 p.m. (CT) against Augustana College (3-4).
  • North Central is located in nearby southwestern suburban town of Naperville, around 29 miles away from the UIC campus.
 
LAST TIME OUT – AT ST. THOMAS
 
  • The Flames went toe-to-toe against St. Thomas last Sunday before falling short to finish out their road trip, 75-71.
  • UIC was led offensively by graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso/DePaul), scoring 13 of her 18 total points in the fourth quarter.
  • Senior Makiyah Williams (Chicago, Ill./Trinity/ Marquette) once again scored in double figures, netting 15 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
  • Senior Jalysa Stokes (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central/UMSL) netted 12 points with a pair of three pointers in 18 minutes of play.
  • Senior Arin Freeman (Little Rock, Ark./ North Little Rock/Coastal Carolina) netted a season-high 10 points and led the team in assists with five.
