Â
GAME SUMMARY
- After both teams went scoreless for the first four innings of play, the Flames got the scoring started in the top of the fifth inning, as Garrett Kay (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) drove home the game's first run on a sacrifice fly.

Â
- Just as they did in Friday night's contest, the Aces answered back quickly, plating six runs between the fifth and sixth innings to take a 6-1 advantage.
- After the Purple Aces added two more to their advantage in the bottom of the seventh, UIC began to chip away in the top of the eighth inning, as Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) came around to score on a wild pitch to make the score 8-2, which would be the final score as the Flames went down in order in the ninth inning.
Â
The Flames have qualified for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament for their second time in as many seasons in the conference. UIC will be the no. 5 seed, and will open play in the 2024 MVC Baseball Championship on Tuesday, as it takes on no. 8 seed Missouri State at 2:30 p.m. CT from Evansville.
