CHICAGO (June 11, 2024) – The 2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Region Teams have been announced in all eight regions Tuesday, and UIC's
Reece Lawler (Gurnee, Ill./Iowa) and
Kendal Ewell (Calumet City, Ill./Kentucky) were honored in the Midwest Region.
Ewell was named to the first team after being named the Player of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference, and
Lawler earned second team honors after leading The Valley in saves in 2024.
The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
"
Reece and
Kendal were both integral parts of our success in 2024," said head coach
Sean McDermott. "This recognition is well deserved for these two, but both of them would be quick to credit their teammates for their individual successes."
Ewell re-wrote the UIC baseball single season record book in 2024, setting new highs in home runs (21) and RBI (69). He also ranks in the top-ten in average, hits, doubles and runs.
Lawler also penciled his name into the history books this season, ranking third all-time in single season saves with 12. He also ranks third in career saves with 17 after tallying five in his first season at UIC.
