7/25/2024 2:00:00 PM

CHICAGO (July 25, 2024) – An action-packed fall is on the horizon for the UIC women's soccer team, as the program announced its 2024 schedule on Thursday. The Flames will face a competitive nonconference slate before beginning Missouri Valley Conference play, looking to build on last year's trip to the MVC Tournament semifinals.

"We are excited to release the 2024 schedule!" said fourth-year head coach David Nikolic. "It is an important part of our preparation for the challenging MVC league schedule, and we have balanced it with quality non-conference opponents, including some NCAA tournament teams from 2023. I am eager to see our group match up as we build towards competing for a championship!"

Key matches for the Flames' 2024 season include clashes with Big Ten program Purdue, BIG EAST competitor Marquette, crosstown rival DePaul and Gonzaga, which won its first West Coast Conference title and NCAA Tournament game last season. The full 2024 UIC women's soccer schedule is available here.
  • Aug. 15 vs. TBD (Season/home opener)
  • Aug. 22 vs. Eastern Michigan (Doubleheader with UIC men's soccer)
  • Aug. 25 at Purdue (Big Ten opponent)
  • Aug. 29 at Marquette (BIG EAST opponent)
  • Sept. 5 vs. DePaul (BIG EAST opponent — start of five-game homestand)
  • Sept. 8 vs. Gonzaga (Advanced to 2023 NCAA Tournament)
  • Sept. 12 vs. Kansas City (Doubleheader with UIC men's soccer)
  • Sept. 19 vs. Northern Iowa (First MVC match)

UIC returns numerous key players this fall, including its top two returning scorers, a pair of rising juniors in first-team All-MVC midfielder Makenna Maloy (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) and second-team all-conference forward/midfielder Sophia Jaime (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso). Both finished last year with team highs of four goals and 12 points. The Flames also bring back critical contributors to last year's defensive unit that posted seven shutouts, anchored by a trio of seniors who have each earned second team All-MVC honors — midfielder Yulexi Diaz (Chicago, Ill./Eric Solorio Academy), defender Shelsea Rigby (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and goalkeeper Lauren Keiser (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla./South Walton).

All UIC home matches take place at Flames Field (901 West Roosevelt Road in Chicago) and admission is free.
