CHICAGO (Aug. 21, 2024) – The UIC men's soccer team is set to open the 2024 season this week, as the Flames (0-0-0, 0-0-0 MVC) begin the campaign with a two-match home stand, starting with a city derby match-up against DePaul (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Big East) Thursday night at Flames Field. UIC will close out the home stand by hosting Green Bay (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Horizon) Sunday night in Chicago.
2024 Flames Facts
- The Flames are poised to be an offensive threat in the Missouri Valley Conference in 2024, as UIC returns its top three goal scorers from a year ago. All three players (Bart Muns, Jesus De Vicente, and Joshua Torres) were named USC Division I Players to watch at their respective positions this preseason. All three players were also named to the Preseason All-Conference Team by The Valley on Monday.
- Leading the Flames in minutes played in 2023 (1,704), junior Paul Brauckmann is poised to lead the Flames' back line again in 2024, looking to build on his two match-winning goals a season ago.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on Thursday following the 5 p.m. women's soccer match at Flames Field, and admission is free for all fans in attendance. Thursday's match can be seen live on ESPN+, with Conor Clingen and UIC men's soccer alum Charlie Trout on the call. Sunday's match will kick off at 7 p.m. CT, but will not be live streamed.
