CHICAGO (Jan. 13, 2025) – UIC student-athletes continued their outstanding academic achievement in the Fall 2024 semester, earning a record-setting 3.43 cumulative grade-point average (GPA), the highest semester mark in school history.
 
Among UIC's 300 student-athletes, 64 posted a perfect 4.0 GPA, more than half (156) earned Dean's List honors with a 3.5 GPA or higher, and more than 80 percent (257) finished with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
 
All 18 Flames programs recorded a 3.1 GPA or higher for the Fall 2024 term, helping UIC Athletics extend its streak to 21 consecutive semesters with a department GPA of 3.0 or higher.
 
"We take immense pride in the outstanding academic achievements of our Flames student-athletes, who continually raise the standard of excellence in the classroom," said UIC Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Andrea Williams. "These accomplishments are the result of a strong, collaborative effort across various campus departments, and we are deeply grateful to many individuals including our faculty, coaches, and academic services staff, whose dedication is essential to the scholastic success of our student-athletes."
 
The UIC women's golf team posted the highest overall 2024 fall semester GPA with its own record-setting mark of 3.92, the highest semester GPA by any UIC sport in school history. The Flames' men's cross country team recorded the highest GPA among UIC men's programs this fall with a 3.47 semester mark.
 
"The academic success of our student-athletes is a testament to their commitment, discipline, and perseverance, both on the field and in the classroom," said Karen Dixon, associate athletics director for academic services. "Our Flames continue to excel academically and we couldn't be more proud of all our student-athletes. We are particularly excited that our Fall 2024 department GPA is the highest yet."
 
Back in November, UIC Athletics announced a 92-percent NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) for its student-athletes, the fourth consecutive year the Flames have registered a GSR score of 90 percent or higher.
