Swimming and Diving Travels to Missouri State For Two-Day Meet

Flames hit the road for the first time in 2025.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Jan. 23, 2025) – The UIC swimming and diving team looks to maintain its strong 2024-25 campaign on the road this weekend in a two-day dual meet against Missouri State.

SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE
 
  • This will be the second meeting for both programs against Missouri State. Two seasons ago, both the men (94.5-201.5) and women (103-195) lost against the Bears in a quad meet.
  • In the meet, senior Daniel Galinski (Elmwood Park, Ill./Elmwood Park) came in third in the men's 100 breaststroke. Graduate Student Taira Juronis (Palos Hills, Ill./Alonzo Amos Stagg) placed second in the 200 breaststroke and third inthe 100 breaststroke. In diving, senior Cole Tremewan (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) swept both events while senior Ciara McCliment (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) won the three-meter event.
  • Missouri State's men lost to both Missouri and McKendree, while the women beat McKendree and lost to Missouri last time out.
 
 
DUAL MEET RECAP - CHICAGO
Swimming
  • Senior Luke Wiesner (Chicago, Ill./West Chicago Community) won the 100 backstroke (49.67), 200 backstroke (1:49.99) and contributed to the second place men's 200 medley relay (1:32.61).
  • Freshman Georgina Bell (Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington Girls College) won the 100 backstroke (57.77), 200 backstroke (2:04.26) and contributed to the winning women's 200 freestyle relay (1:36.03) and 200 medley relay (1:46.99).
Diving
  • Junior Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill./Riverside Brookfield/Kentucky) swept the diving competitions for the men with scores of 388.13 in the one-meter and 406.43 in the three-meter, earning himself men's Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week for the fifth time this season.
  • Junior Kerry-Leigh Morrison (Gauteng, South Africa/St. Mary's School) swept the diving competitions for the women with scores of 272.48 points in the one-meter and 303.30 points in the three-meter events.
