CHICAGO – UIC women's soccer junior midfielder Emmy Higgins has earned Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning. This marks the first conference accolade of the season for the Flames, and Higgins' first conference weekly honor since being named MVC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 19, 2023.

The Evansville, Ind., native played a key role in the Flames' first conference victory of the season on Sunday against Drake as she scored the lone goal in the 72nd minute with a shot outside the 18-yard box. Recording her first goal of the season, Higgins gave the Flames light as they defeated the Bulldogs in a 2024 MVC Tournament semifinal rematch.

Higgins, who has started in all 53 matches she has played in her career, leads the team with 1,241 minutes played, while adding one goal and two assists.

UIC (5-6-3, 1-2-2 MVC) will be back in action at 4 p.m. (CT) Sunday when it travels to Normal, Ill., to take on Illinois State.
