CHICAGO — The UIC women's swimming and diving team caught fire, both in the lanes and on the diving boards, at the Flames Natatorium on Friday afternoon, earning its first dual meet victory of the season over Illinois State, 221-78.
The Flames captured 14 of the 16 events throughout the meet, highlighted by victories in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. On the diving side, UIC claimed all but one of the top five spots in both the one-meter and three-meter events.
COMMENT FROM HEAD COACH ASHLEY DELL
"I'm so proud of how our women performed tonight. To win 14 out of the 16 events against a team who beat us at the Missouri Valley Conference meet a year and a half ago is an incredible feat. Our women are throwing down some fast times this early in the season, and it makes me excited for what's to come!"
COMMENT FROM ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH/HEAD DIVING COACH SUSAN BROMBERG
"I thought the divers did well today against Illinois State. You can see within one week of training how much more they all improved in their overall performances and shout out to
Kerry-Leigh Morrison for winning both boards and making another zone qualifying cut on the three-meter board once again."
