CHICAGO – UIC men's tennis reached the halfway point of its 2025 fall season after a competitive weekend at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted in Chicago, Ill.
The event kicked off on Thursday, Oct. 9, with the Flames battling across four days against some of the top collegiate talent in the Midwest.Seven Flames took part in the tournament, showcasing grit and steady improvement throughout the weekend.
Junior Artem Alekseychuk, sophomore Simon Knezevic, and junior Mihailo Savic advanced to the main draw, with Alekseychuk and Knezevic pushing through to the Round of 32 on Saturday — the final two Flames remaining in singles play.
Quote from Head Coach Jovan Parlic
"Simon had another great tournament, qualifying and defeating one of Northwestern's top players from last year before falling to one of the best players in the region from Ohio State. We're still working on finding the right doubles combination and strategy and will have a good opportunity to do that this week. Overall, it was a strong tournament for the Flames, and next up is the MAC Championships in Kalamazoo."
