Volleyball Looks to Bounce Back Friday at Southern Illinois

First serve at Davies Gym is slated for 6 p.m. (CT).

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The UIC volleyball team (8-7, 2-3 MVC) hits the road Friday night when they   play against Southern Illinois (8-9, 2-2 MVC) at 6 p.m. (CT). The Missouri Valley Conference match-up at Davies Gym will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available at UICFlames.com.

SCOUTING SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
  •  Friday marks the 14th meeting between the programs, with Southern Illinois leading the all-time series 8-5. However, UIC has claimed three of the past four matchups since joining the MVC.
  • The Salukis look to bounce back after dropping back-to-back home matches against Indiana State (8-8, 2-2 MVC) and Belmont (12-3, 3-1 MVC) last weekend.
  • Senior outside hitter Annabell Sulish leads the offense with 182 kills, averaging a team-best 2.94 per set.
  • Junior libero Jillian Shaneyfelt ranks sixth in the MVC with 4.19 digs per set.

UIC DROPS STRAIGHT SETS TO VALPARAISO TUESDAY NIGHT
  • The Flames came up short Tuesday night in a midweek MVC match-up against Valparaiso (13-5, 4-1 MVC) at Credit Union 1 Arena.
  • Senior Ayat Amin paced the attack with a team-high 15 kills. Amin has totaled 128 kills in the season, ranking her second on the team.
  • Sophomore Antonie Kelnárová recorded a season-high dozen kills and added four blocks in the match.
  • Senior setter Francesca Venturini led the Flames in 21 assists and a dozen digs. She is just 20 assists shy of reaching 2,000 for her UIC career.
