CHICAGO – Six UIC women's soccer players were recognized for their excellence both on the field and in the classroom, earning spots on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, announced Tuesday.

Hannah Gryzik, Graduate midfielder
Katelyn Nardulli, Senior midfielder
Chopper Carriere, and Sophomore defender all were recognized .
Senior
Riley Collett, a second-team All-MVC pick this season, maintains a 3.89 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. Senior
Bella Baker carries a 3.76 GPA in accounting, while Senior
Hannah Gryzik is a 4.0 student-athlete majoring in marketing and was also named an Elite 18 award winner at the conclusion of the MVC Championship. Graduate student
Katelyn Nardulli holds a 3.68 GPA in nursing, Senior
Chopper Carriere has a 3.64 GPA, and Sophomore
Marinna Campos maintains a 3.56 GPA in marketing.
Collett and Gryzik each earned MVC Scholar-Athlete honors for the second consecutive season, Collett moving up from the third team to the first team, while Gryzik was a second-team choice both years. Meanwhile, Baker, Nardulli, Carriere, and Campos each earned MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition for the first time.
The Valley's scholar-athlete teams are voted on by the league's soccer sports information directors. The criteria for the All-MVC honor parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.00 scale) and must have participated in at least 75 percent of their team's games. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and completed at least one full academic year at their institution.
