South Bend, Ind. – Coming off their first Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship in program history, the UIC women's soccer team will be making its first appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship. As one of two teams to make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Flames will be taking on top-seeded (and second-ranked) Notre Dame in a first-round match. The Flames and Fighting Irish will kick off at 5:00 p.m. CT on Saturday at Notre Dame's Alumni Soccer Stadium. Livestream will be available on

The Flames earned a berth in the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship after securing their first Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) championship in program history when they defeated the Illinois State Redbirds 2-1 in a penalty shootout. Following 110 minutes of scoreless action, a penalty shootout determined the conference champion on Sunday.
Hannah Gryzik and
Kaysey Castro converted their attempts, while
Sara Sanabria came up with three huge saves. With an additional Redbird shot hitting off the crossbar, the Flames earned a 2-1 penalty shootout victory, sending them to the NCAA DI Tournament for the first time in program history.
