Volleyball Begins March into the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Home

The Flames host the Redbirds in the quarterfinal round of the MVC Tournament at 2 p.m. (CT).

CHICAGO – The No. 4 UIC Volleyball team (17-9, 11-5 MVC) hosts No. 5 Illinois State (12-15, 7-8 MVC) in the first round of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Championship. First serve is set for 2 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday from Credit Union 1 Arena.
 
The match will stream live on ESPN+ with live stats available at UICFlames.com. Fans interested in purchasing a ticket to attend can click this link here. Doors open an hour before the first serve.
 
Fans attending UIC volleyball's Missouri Valley Conference Championship quarterfinal against Illinois State at 2 p.m. (CT) can redeem their ticket for free entry to the UIC women's basketball game against Wisconsin at 7 p.m. (CT).

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE
  • Wednesday will be their 21st meeting all-time between the Flames and Redbirds, with Illinois State leading the series, 14-6. UIC has been finding its rhythm, taking five of its last six matchups. 
  • In their most recent contest last weekend, the Flames took home the win on their Senior Night, 3-1. Senior Aida Shadewald led the Redbirds in kills with 13, with sophomore Oliwia Caputa following behind with 10 kills.
  • The Redbirds left Valparaiso with a win in five sets. Caputa led the team in kills with 12, while freshman Ella Craggs was dishing up 22 assists.
  • The Redbirds carry a diversified offense, including senior Hannah Reichensperger, who ranks second in team points, balancing out an attack filled with Shadewald, Caputa, and junior Caitlyn Little.
LAST WEEKEND RECAP - vs Bradley/Illinois State
  • The Flames pulled themselves together for their final two regular-season matches versus Bradley and Illinois State, winning both in four sets.
  • Sophomore Antonie Kelnárová put out her most well-rounded weekend since October 17-18, putting up 30 kills, 30 digs, and three service aces. Her matchup versus Bradley helped take down the Braves and secure the first win of the weekend.
  • Senior Night was celebrated last Saturday, honoring the six seniors on the team. Beatrice Carulli, Cleo Lorenzo, Francesca Venturini, Jada Young, Ayat Amin, and Julieta Sandez all saw the court for the final time in the regular season in their win over Illinois State.
  • UIC won sole possession of the four seed in the MVC tournament bracket, as the winner of UIC-Illinois State will go on to face the No. 1 Northern Iowa (23-5, 16-0 MVC) on Saturday, November 22.
