Women’s Basketball Battles Indiana Friday Night on the Road

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT).

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The UIC women's basketball team (0-1) hits the road for the first time this season to take on Big Ten opponent Indiana (0-0) at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Friday night. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. (CT).

SCOUTING INDIANA
  • Friday's contest marks the sixth meeting all-time between the Flames and the Hoosiers. UIC will look for its first win in the series since 1981, as Indiana holds a 4-1 advantage.
  • Indiana opened its season Tuesday night with an 80-46 home victory over Lipscomb (0-1, 0-0 ASUN). Senior guard Shay Ciezki led the Hoosiers with 22 points and five rebounds.
  • Ciezki was instrumental in Indiana's late season push in 2024-25, averaging 15.6 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals over the final nine games.
  • The Hoosiers are coming off a 20-13 campaign, including a 10-8 mark in Big Ten play. Indiana earned a berth in the 2025 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, defeating Utah in the opening round before falling to South Carolina in the second round.
LAST GAME RECAP – VS. ROBERT MORRIS
  • After a strong start in the opening quarter, the Flames fell short in their home opener Monday night against Robert Morris (1-0, 0-0 Horizon), 78-63.
  • Senior Jessica Carrothers led all scorers with 28 points, adding four rebounds and four assists.
  • Senior Amelia Strong finished with 13 points, including seven from the free-throw line. She also grabbed six rebounds, five of which came on the offensive glass.
  • Six different Flames recorded at least one steal, with redshirt Sophomore Julia Coleman leading the way with three. UIC totaled 10 steals in the game.
