CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (6-6, 1-0 MVC) returns from the holiday break ready for Missouri Valley Conference play, when they host Drake (2-9, 1-0 MVC) for a Noon (CT) tip-off in conference action. It is the first game of a double header, with the men's basketball team taking on Illinois Tech at 3 p.m. (CT).

SCOUTING DRAKE
- This marks the 13th matchup between the Flames and the Bulldogs. UIC looks to snap a four-game skid against Drake and earn its first win in the series since Feb. 12, 2023.
- Drake closed nonconference play on Dec. 21 with a 68-43 loss to Minnesota (9-3, 0-1 Big Ten). Sophomore Maggie Taylor paced the Bulldogs with nine points in 19 minutes off the bench.
- The Bulldogs opened MVC play with their second win of the season on Dec. 17, defeating Indiana State (4-7, 0-1 MVC), 97-77. Senior Abbie Aalsma led five Drake players in double figures, finishing with 21 points, five rebounds and five assists.
- Aalsma ranks 11th in the MVC in scoring (14.6 points per game) and field-goal percentage (43.5%).
LAST GAME RECAP – vs. AUSTIN PEAY
- The Flames closed nonconference play before the holidays with a 59-48 home loss to Austin Peay (6-2, 0-0 ASUN) on Dec. 20.
- Redshirt sophomore Julia Coleman recorded 13 points, five assists and five rebounds against the Governors. The St. Louis native averaged 21.0 points and 6.5 rebounds for the week while shooting 51.6% from the field, earning MVC Newcomer of the Week honors.
- Graduate student Sara Zabrecky knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points. The guard is two made 3s away from cracking the program's top 10, sitting at 104 career triples and aiming to surpass Robyn Frascati (1985-89), who finished with 105.
- Senior Jessica Carrothers totaled eight points, two steals and two rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench.
