Men's Basketball Drops Last-Second 63-62 Decision to Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Flames return to action Sunday with 1 p.m. (CT) matinee at Yale.

CHICAGO — Redshirt freshman forward Jayce Nathaniel recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, but Arkansas-Pine Bluff converted 1-of-2 free throws with 15.6 seconds remaining to edge past UIC, 63-62 before a season-high 2,394 fans on Wednesday morning for Education Day at Credit Union 1 Arena.

Junior guard Ahmad Henderson II scored a team-high 15 points and junior guard/forward Mekhi Lowery added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Flames (4-4), who tied the game on Nathaniel's putback with 43 seconds to go before the Golden Lions retook the lead and dodged UIC's potential game-winning shot attempt in the closing seconds.
