SCOUTING VALPARAISO
  • This will be the 58th time the Flames and the Beacons will be battling it out on the hardwood. UIC leads in the overall series, 32-26. The Flames have won seven of the past eight meetings, having gone 6-1 since joining the MVC.
  • In their last meeting, the Flames defeated the Beacons at Credit Union 1 Arena in front of the home crowd on Jan. 26, 60-45. Senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin) led the team in scoring with 14 points on four three pointers. Graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul) scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and collected three assists in 19 minutes of play.
  • The Beacons are in search of a return to the win column after back-to-back losses against Belmont (16-7, 11-1 MVC) and Murray State (15-6, 9-3 MVC) at home over the weekend.
  • Graduate student Leah Earnest is the fourth-highest scorer in the MVC, averaging 17.0 points per game and is nine points away from becoming Valparaiso third 1,500+ scorer in program history.

LAST GAME OUT – VS. BELMONT
  • The Flames entered the fourth quarter in a two-possession game before falling short, 65-54 at Credit Union 1 Arena Sunday afternoon.
  • Ellew  sank four threes enroute to a 14-point performance with 31 points coming off the bench to lead the Flames in scoring.
  • Senior Arin Freeman (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock/Central Carolina) netted 11 points, grabbed four assists and three rebounds.
  • Collecting five assists in the game, graduate student Kristian Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) became the first member in program history to have collected 750+ points, 500+ rebounds and 500+ assists in her career at UIC.
