MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Feb. 17, 2025) – The UIC golf team started off their spring schedule on a strong note, placing third at Alabama State's ASU Spring Invitational at the Arrowhead Country Club, shooting a collective 69-over-par.
In an event that was shortened from a 54-hole to a 36-hole event due to time and weather constraints, but the Flames had a strong showing on the individual leaderboard. Freshman
Alejandra Ereño (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Nuestra Senora del Recuerdo) tied for 13
th place after shooting 16-over-par. Fellow classmate
Anastassia Daudin (Biarritz, France/ Jean Rostand Middle School Biattriz) finished in 17
th place after shooting 18-over-par in two rounds. Junior
Ellie McDonald (Indianapolis, Ind./Heritage Christian) finished tied for 18
th, shooting 19-over-par in the two-day event.

"It was great to be back on the course playing. Weather made conditions tough, but I'm proud of the girls and how they battled. We were able to shake the rust off and were excited to get back to work on the things we need to address as we start preparation for Florida."

- This is the Flames 10th top three finish under second-year head coach Angela Rayhill.
- The Flames finished in the exact same place a season ago at the ASU Spring Invitational. The team show 65-over-par collectively.
- UIC scored nine birdies aross 36-holes of play at the Arrowhead Country Club. Daudin and McDonald led the way with each scoring three birdies a piece.
