CHICAGO (Feb. 25, 2025) – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its annual State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award for winter sports student-athletes. Among the dozen recipients named was graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul), recognized for her work in the classroom and in the community.

"I am so proud of Keimari Rimmer, she is so deserving of the MVC Good Neighbor Award," head coach Ashleen Bracey said. "She has worked extremely hard in the classroom, community and on the court to represent herself and our program in a positive way. She is and will continue to be an incredible ambassador for UIC long after she graduates. We are so appreciative of her dedication and consistent impact throughout the Chicago community. Keimari is a true Flame and embodies a servant heart!"

To be selected for this award, student-athletes must retain good academic standing, demonstrate good citizenship through sportsmanship and significant community service involvement and participate in an MVC-sponsored sport during the season of recognition. The Valley honors 36 student-athletes annually (12 each during the fall, winter and spring) with each member institution selecting their respective honorees for the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award. Rimmer joins senior Quinn Ruiz (San Jose, Calif./Branham) of the women's soccer team as the second UIC student-athlete to be named as a State Farm Good Neighbor Award with the spring recipient yet to be announced.

On the court, Rimmer has been a steady presence coming off the bench, playing a role in the second-best bench offensive production in the entire country, averaging 32.9 points per game. The graduate student is tied for third on the team in points (7.9), third on the team in rebounds (5.2) across the 25 games she has played this season. She is coming off a double-double performance, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in UIC's 91-74 victory over Indiana State (4-23, 2-14 MVC) Friday afternoon.

Off the court, Rimmer is in pursuit of her Master's in Youth Development while volunteering at SOS's Children's Village. Their mission is to be a consistent presence in providing support to the youth, empowering them with the resources to reach their full potential.

This is Rimmer's second recognition in the past week. The Chicago native was nominated as an All State and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) inaugural Good Works Team for the Winter Sports last Thursday.

The Flames are back on the road this week, beginning with facing-off against Illinois State (17-10, 11-5 MVC) at the CEFCU Arena for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) tip-off. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ with live stats available at UICFlames.com.
