CHICAGO – UIC men's tennis (13-4 overall, 4-2 MAC) delivered a commanding performance at home, sweeping Northern Illinois 7-0. The Flames set a powerful tone early in the match by clinching two crucial doubles victories, followed by decisive wins in all six singles contests.
In doubles action, at the #1 spot, Pedro Franca and Eldin Nokic edged out Northern Illinois' Ike Gaztambide Arrastia and Federico Scotuzzi with a 7-5 tiebreak. At the #2 doubles spot, Artem Alekseychuk and Milos Mikovic secured a nail-biting 7-6 win over Northern Illinois' Saul Berdullas and Iker Dellien Velasco. Although the #3 doubles match went in favor of Northern Illinois, these two wins provided a solid foundation for UIC.
The momentum continued in singles. At the #1 singles spot, Artem Alekseychuk turned the tide with a three-set win (6-5, 1-6, 6-0) over Ike Gaztambide Arrastia. Eldin Nokic dominated at #2 singles with a straight-set victory (6-3, 6-1) against Saul Berdullas. At #3 singles, Milos Mikovic prevailed (6-3, 7-6) over Federico Scotuzzi. The Flames maintained their strong performance with wins at #4, #5, and #6 singles by Mihailo Savic, Simon Knezevic, and Emil Dapcevic, respectively.
This dominant 7-0 victory not only boosts the team's confidence but also reinforces UIC's status as a rising force in the conference as they continue to refine their game.
