SCOUTING NORTHERN IOWA
  • This will be the 22nd match-up between to the Flames and the Panthers. UIC is looking for its first win over UNI since joining the Missouri Valley Conference in 2022, and the first victory since defeating the Panthers 70-61 back on Dec. 4, 2003.
  • In their last meeting, the Panthers outlasted the Flames, 75-64 at the McCleod Center on Jan. 4. Graduate student Kristian Young (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) led the Flames with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists. Graduate student Jaida McCloud (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) and senior Sandra Frau Garcia (Pego, Spain/Casper College) each netted nine points in the contest.
  • The Panthers had a two-game winning streak snapped when they lost to Drake (20-9, 14-4) 80-79 in their final home game of the season. Senior Maya McDermott led the way for Northern Iowa, scoring 18 of her team-leading 27 points in the final moments of the game, but unfortunately falling short in the final seconds.
  • UNI remains one of the top offensive teams in The Valley, averaging 74.9 points per game, ranking third in the conference.
LAST GAME OUT – AT BRADLEY
  • The Flames kept it close entering the fourth quarter, before falling short to Bradley (12-17, 6-12 MVC) at the Renaissance Coliseum Saturday afternoon, 65-54.
  • The Flames were led in scoring by senior Krystyna Ellew (Chicago, Ill./Taft/Wisconsin), scoring 15 points on a career-high five three-pointers.
  • Graduate student Keimari Rimmer (Chicago, Ill./Proviso East/DePaul) netted 11 points in the contest, leading the team with eight rebounds.
  • Graduate student Danyel Middleton (Chicago, Ill./Bolingbrook/Marquette) scored 10 points in 24 minutes of play.
