CHICAGO — A standout debut season for Eldin Nokic was recognized in a major way Tuesday as the UIC men's tennis freshman was named the 2025 MAC Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year, and earned a spot on the All-MAC First Team.
Nokic becomes the first Freshman of the Year in program history, making his honor one of the most notable individual awards since the Flames joined the MAC. The newcomer played a key role in a strong 2025 campaign for UIC, which finished with a 11-4 overall record and a 7-3 mark in conference singles play.
In addition to Nokic's accolades, sophomore Milos Mikovic was named to the All-MAC Second Team. Mikovic becomes the 18th Second Team honoree in program history and continued to impress in his second year as a Flame.
Nokic is now the 13th All-MAC First Team selection in program history since records began, adding his name to an elite list of UIC standouts. But it's his selection as MAC Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year that marks a true milestone for the program. Nokic becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor, cementing his place in the record books just one year into his collegiate career.
The accolade not only recognizes his outstanding individual season but also signals UIC's growing presence in the conference. Throughout the year, Nokic delivered in pressure moments, securing key wins in both singles and doubles competition while playing near the top of the lineup, a rare feat for a first-year player. His consistency, composure, and ability to compete against the best in the MAC made him a standout from the opening match.
