KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UIC men's and women's soccer teams both earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for their scholastic performances during the 2024-25 academic year.  The Flames' men posted a 3.43 GPA while the UIC women recorded a 3.60, both easily surpassing the award's minimum GPA requirement (3.00).

UIC was among 151 universities that had both its men's and women's programs recognized. In total, 687 teams across the nation earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 academic year.

This marks the fifth time the UIC men have received this award, while the Flames' women picked up the honor for the eighth time. It is the UIC men's first recognition since the 2019-20 academic year, while the Flames' women received their first honor since 2022-23.

The 2025 season is right around the corner for both UIC programs, with the women set to kick off first at 5 p.m. (CT) on Aug. 14 at Flames Field with their first-ever match against Illinois. The UIC men will open their 2025 season at 7 p.m. (CT) on Aug. 21, welcoming the U.S. Air Force Academy to Flames Field.

Admission to UIC soccer matches is free for University students and staff, as well as youths eighth grade and under. Starting with the Aug. 21 Air Force match, adult tickets (ninth grade and older) will be $5 each while group tickets (10 adults or more) are available for $3 each — tickets are sold at the main entrance to Flames Field on match day.
