CHICAGO – The UIC volleyball team (6-4, 0-0 MVC) captured the annual Chicago Cup on Saturday night with a thrilling five-set victory over Loyola (3-8, 0-0 A-10) in front of home fans at Credit Union 1 Arena.
The senior trio
Ayat Amin (16 kills
), Julieta Sandez (15) and
Cleo Lorenzo (13) led the Flames in scoring against the Ramblers, Freshman libero
Ava Young tallied three of UIC's six service aces in the match. Redshirt-sophomore
Mihaela Harizanova record 40 assists pacing the attack.

- Collecting 13 digs and 13 kills, Lorenzo recorded her third double-double performances this season.
- Amin finished totaled 26 kills over the weekend, averaging 2.89 kills per set, while adding 11 block assists.
- Sandez's 15 kills marked a career high for the middle blocker. She averaged 3.00 kills per set on the weekend, second-best on the team.
- Following her 40-assist effort against Loyola, Harizanova now has 273 on the season, ranking fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference.
