DEKALB, Ill. – UIC continued its 2025 cross country season with a strong showing at the Huskie Classic, hosted by Northern Illinois University on Friday, September 5. The Flames placed 3rd out of 5 teams in the women's 5,000m race, competing against DePaul, Western Illinois, NIU, and Chicago State.
Despite racing with a limited squad, UIC delivered a solid team performance highlighted by eight new personal bests.
KEY TIMES
Isabela Garcia led the way with an 8th-place finish in 19:01, followed closely by Indigo Sterud in 9th at 19:05. Colette Lampa rounded out the top three for the Flames, placing 18th in 19:41.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"Today we competed with a limited group and came away with overall strong performance with several new personal bests," said head coach Paul Zavala. "I'm excited to see our team compete at full strength again in a few weeks at the Badger Classic."

The Flames return to action on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Badger Classic, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
