Women’s Basketball Closes Out Three-Game Road Trip at Southern Illinois Sunday

Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. (CT) at the Banterra Center.

CARBONDALE, Ill. – The UIC women's basketball team (8-9, 3-3 MVC) closes out a three-game Missouri Valley Conference road trip Sunday afternoon, when they take Southern Illinois (4-12, 1-6 MVC) at the Banterra Center for a 2 p.m. (CT) tip-off. SCOUTING SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
  • This will be the 20th match-up between the programs heading into Sunday. Although the Salukis hold a 12-7 lead in the overall series, UIC has gone 3-1 against Southern Illinois since joining the MVC.
  • The Salukis aim to return to the win column Sunday afternoon, after falling short to Murray State (15-2, 6-0 MVC) at home Thursday night, 87-74. Graduate student Indya Green led SIU with 18 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of steals across 31 minutes of play.
  • Sophomore Alayna Kraus has become the focal point of SIU's offense, leading the team in points (14.2 PPG), made three-pointers (22), free throws made (54) and free throw percentage (85.7%).
  • Green (7.6 RPG) and graduate student Jeniah Thompson (7.2 RPG) rank among the conference's top rebounders, combining for 237 rebounds this season for Southern Illinois.
LAST GAME RECAP – AT EVANSVILLE
  • A slow first quarter start couldn't stop the Flames from securing a 66-48 victory over Evansville (4-13, 2-4 MVC) Friday night at Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
  • Senior Jessica Carrothers led all scorers with 25 points, five assists and two rebounds. The guard is just 84 points shy of reaching 2,000 career points across the NCAA and NAIA levels.
  • Redshirt sophomore Julia Coleman collected her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
  • The team shot a season-high 54.7% in the field, surpassing its 54.5% performance in the win against DePaul in December.
