CHICAGO - In their season opening match against Youngstown State, UIC men's tennis fell just short, losing 4-3 to the Penguins at the XS Tennis Village Saturday afternoon.
The Flames started strong as they swept the doubles point behind victories from all three teams. The No. 1 team of Junior Artem Alekseychuk and Sophmore Simon Knezevic stated the match off with a 7-5 victory. Then, Sophmore Eldin Nokic and Freshman Henrique Sa followed with a 6-2 victory on the No. 2 court. While Senior Youssef Hamed and Junior Mihailo Savic were victorious on the #3 doubles court.
On the singles side, Artem Alekseychuk and Mihailo Savic were both winners in No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively.
UIC heads to Indianapolis next Friday, January 25th to take on the University of Indianapolis. Matches are set to begin at 12:30 PM.
