Women’s Basketball Returns Home to Host Illinois State Thursday Night

Tip-off against the Redbirds is slated for 7 p.m. (CT).

CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball team (8-10, 3-4 MVC) returns to Credit Union 1 Arena Thursday night, when they face off against Illinois State (10-8, 4-3 MVC) in Missouri Valley Conference midweek action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT)

The game will be available to watch on The Valley on ESPN or ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the game for free at the Flames Network or through live stats will be at UICFlames.com. Fans interested in attending can get their tickets at TicketMaster.com. Doors will open an hour before tip-off.

Thursday's game will also be Pride Night for UIC women's basketball, celebrating members of the LGBTQIA+ community with free t-shirts and flags to giveaway to fans.

The game will also serve as UIC's Academic Achievement Night, where our student-athletes will be celebrated for their success in the classroom.

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE
  • This will be the 29th match-up between the Flames and the Redbirds. UIC aims to secure its second win against Illinois State since joining the MVC, last defeating the Redbirds in overtime back on Jan. 21, 2024.
  • In their last meeting, the Flames fell short to the Redbirds on Jan. 8 at the CEFCU Arena, 75-61. Senior Jessica Carrothers led all scorers in the game with 20 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists.
  • Since their last meeting, Illinois State has maintained momentum, collecting wins against Evansville (4-14, 2-5 MVC) and Valparaiso (0-19, 0-8 MVC) in the past two games. 
  • Sophomore Doneelah Washington continues to be the focal point of the Redbirds' offense, averaging 27.5 points per game in the wins against Purple Aces and Beacons.
LAST GAME RECAP – AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
  • UIC closed a three-game MVC road trip with a 63-58 loss at Southern Illinois (5-12, 2-6 MVC) on Sunday in Carbondale.
  • Carrothers led the Flames with 22 points, six rebounds and three assists, moving within 59 points of 2,000 career points across the NCAA and NAIA levels.
  • Redshirt sophomore Julia Coleman added 16 points, five rebounds and a career-high five steals.
  • Sophomore TuTu Clayton finished with 10 points and five rebounds in 31 minutes.
