Women’s Basketball Opens Three-Game Road Trip at Illinois State Thursday Night

Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. (CT) at CEFCU Arena.

NORMAL, Ill. – The UIC women's basketball team (7-8, 2-2 MVC) returns to the road Thursday night, facing Illinois State (7-8, 1-3 MVC) at CEFCU Arena in a Missouri Valley Conference midweek matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CT).

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE
  • Thursday's contest marks the 28th meeting between the Flames and the Redbirds. UIC is 1-5 against Illinois State since joining The Valley, searching for its first win since an 86-79 overtime victory at home on Jan. 21, 2024.
  • The Redbirds look to return to the win column after a challenging road trip last weekend, including a double-overtime loss at Murray State (12-2, 3-0 MVC) on Saturday, 101-93. Sophomore Doneelah Washington led Illinois State with 24 points, six rebounds and four steals.
  •  Washington remains the focal point of the Redbirds' offense, averaging 14.2 points per game while shooting 46.4% from the field.
  • Illinois State ranks among the top offensive teams in the conference, sitting second in the MVC in scoring at 72.8 points per game.
LAST GAME RECAP – VS. INDIANA STATE
  • The Flames closed out a five-game homestand victorious Sunday afternoon, defeating Indiana State (5-9, 1-3 MVC), 70-57.
  • Senior Jessica Carrothers led all scorers with 20 points, adding eight rebounds five assists. The guard finished the week averaging 21 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists in the past three games.
  • Senior Amelia Strong chipped a season-high 11 point and five rebounds off the bench.
  • Graduate student Sara Zabrecky sank a pair of three-pointer enroute to a nine-point, eight-rebound performance. Now with 177 triples in her career at UIC, Zabrecky now ranks 10th all-time in program history, surpassing Robyn Franscati (1989-90).
