Women’s Tennis Splits a Pair of Weekend Matches

Flames bounce back after tough loss against Fordham to defeat Roosevelt

CHICAGO - UIC women's tennis welcomed a pair of opponents to the Windy City this weekend. On Saturday Fordham made the trip to take on the Flames at H-F Racquet & Fitness Club. Fordham was able to win the doubles point after a couple of hard fought matches. Fordham was able to take three singles matches to win the overall match 4-0.

On Sunday the Flames welcomed Roosevelt and bounced back in dominant fashion against the Lakers. The Flames won 6-1 with the only Lakers point being a forfeit at No. 6 singles due to UIC being down three singles starters. Sophomore Stela Vlaisavljevic was victorious at both No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles in some of her first action of the young season. Nia Cooper and Paula Rodriguez Gregoris both had strong days as well, their No. 2 doubles team won, and both players won their respective singles matches.

The Flames will have a couple days off from match play before they head to Wisconsin to take on UW Milwaukee on Friday.

COACH FROM COACH LUMPKIN ROBINSON (FORDHAM MATCH)
"We had extremely tight matches with a very high caliber team. I was proud of how hard we fought and the tenacity of the team tonight. We had a few matches unfinished that I'm confident would have gone our way. We look forward to another great opportunity to improve tomorrow."
