Women’s Basketball Visits UNI in Final MVC Road Game Saturday

Tip-off at the McLeod Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT)

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – For the final time in Missouri Valley Conference play, the UIC women's basketball team (14-14, 9-8 MVC) hits the road to face off against UNI (14-13, 10-7 MVC) at the McLeod Center Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT).

SCOUTING UNI
  • This will be the 24th match-up between the programs, with UNI holding an overall lead in the series, 17-6.
  • In their first match-up earlier in MVC play, UIC fell short in the final seconds to UNI, 75-74. Senior Jessica Carrothers led UIC in scoring with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
  • The Panthers return to the win column Thursday night, when they defeated Valparaiso (0-28, 0-17 MVC) at home, 92-54. Sophomore Elise Jaeger led the Panthers in scoring with 16 points and 12 rebounds, securing the double-double in the win.
  • Senior Ryley Goebel continues to have an impactful season, leading the Panthers in points (14.4 PPG), second on the team in rebounds (8.3 RPG) and leads the MVC in blocks per game (2.7 BPG).
LAST GAME RECAP – VS. BRADLEY
  • In front of a record-breaking 4,845 fans on Education Day, the Flames fended off Bradley (19-10, 12-6 MVC) in a 66-53 victory Thursday afternoon.
  • Carrothers led all scorers with 18 points, six assists, four steals and four rebounds. The senior guard has led UIC in scoring across 13 games this season.
  • Securing her team-leading seventh double-double this season, redshirt sophomore Julia Coleman scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win.
  • Sophomore TuTu Clayton also scored 13 points in the contest, sinking three triples across 33 minutes of play.
  • After a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter, graduate student Sara Zabrecky ranks eighth all-time in program history with 129 made triples, surpassing Sara Petersen (1994-98).
