Jesus De Vicente and forward
Bart Muns — will continue their careers at the professional level after recently signing contracts with their new clubs.
A native of Valencia, Spain, DeVicente will join up with Oakland Roots SC, which competes in the Western Conference of the USL Championship, the second tier of the United States league system. De Vicente, a 2024 UIC graduate, played two seasons for the Flames, appearing and starting in 35 matches while collecting five goals and 15 assists in that span. In 2023, he ranked fifth in the nation with 11 assists, adding on four goals for 19 points.
De Vicente is expected to make his professional debut March 7 when Oakland opens its season at Monterey Bay FC before its home opener a week later at the Oakland Coliseum against New Mexico United.
Originally from Amsterdam, Netherlands, Muns is returning to his home country for the next step in his soccer journey, signing with Koninklijke HFC, the oldest club in Dutch soccer having been founded in 1879. Based in the city of Haarlem, the club currently competes in the Tweede Divisie (or Second Division), which is the third tier of the Dutch soccer system and is midway through its 2025-26 season.
Like De Vicente, Muns played the 2023 and 2024 seasons at UIC, amassing 19 goals and 11 assists in two years with the Flames. During his all-region campaign in 2023, he collected 11 goals and five assists (27 points) before coming back with eight goals and six assists (22 points) a year later, earning a spot on the 2024 MVC All-Tournament Team.
