CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis team was defeated by Northern Illinois 5-2 in Dekalb in their Mid American Conference (MAC) opener. The Huskies got out to a fast start, winning the doubles point. The Flames battled in singles play. Simon Knezevic won at No. 3 singles and Mihailo Savic won at No. 4 singles to get the Flames on the board, before the Huskies clinched the match.

UIC will return to the court next week for a pair of road conference matches against Ball State and Western Michigan.
