CHICAGO – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its final weekly honors of the regular season, as sophomore Dongke Liu was named Singles Player of the week after playing a pivotal role in UIC's women's tennis team clinching the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title on Saturday.

Liu opened her week as the No. 2 singles player for the Flames, first getting a straight-sets victory over UNI's Yangjiaxin Li (6-1,6-3).

She would later bump up to the No. 1 singles player Sunday against Drake, facing off against Maja Dodik. Dongke would remain dominant on the court, collecting her second straight set victory over the weekend (6-2, 6-4).

This is Dongke's third MVC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week honors in her time at UIC. She previously won the recognition on March 3 after a strong showing against Indiana. She first earned this recognition a season ago, with wins against Northwestern and Milwaukee just entering her first Spring season with the Flames.

UIC is geared up to host the 2026 MVC Women's Tennis Championship entering this weekend, beginning  this Friday, April 24th. The Quarterfinals begin Friday, April 24, at XS Tennis Village. The Flames, the No. 1 seed, will face either No. 4 Bradley or No. 5 Drake in the semifinals at 10 a.m. CT.
