CHICAGO - The UIC women's tennis team fell in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) tournament semifinals 4-1 against Drake. After dropping the doubles point, the Flames rallied sending three matches to a tie breaking third set before the match was clinched.
The Flames finish the season 14-7 and as the MVC regular season champions for the first time in program history. Elizabeth Lumpkin Robinson was selected as MVC Coach of the Year. Anais Brion and Paula Rodriguez Gregoris were both named Second Team All-MVC.
QUOTE FROM COACH LUMPKIN ROBINSON
"Today's loss doesn't change the historic season this group had or the growth of each individual. I'm extremely proud of their efforts through the year. I'm disappointed I didn't get to compete longer with this special group, but credit to our opponents for excellent execution against us. We will learn from this and come back stronger next year."
