CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The UIC track and field programs continued their late-season surge this past weekend at the University of Illinois, competing in the Gary Wieneke Memorial on May 1-2. Against a competitive field, the Flames secured three UIC all-time top-10 indoor performances, four new personal bests, and a new freshman school record.

MEN

The sprints group led the way for the men's side, highlighted by a dominant showing in the 200m dash. Gabriel Fiedorow etched his name into the record books, clocking a 21.69 to establish a new UIC freshman school record. His performance earned him a fifth-place finish and moved him into a tie for the #8 spot on the UIC all-time indoor list.

Matching that historic pace was Shmouel Sackman, who also crossed the line in 21.69. Sackman's effort earned him a fourth-place finish and solidified his own place at #8 on the program's all-time performance list.

WOMEN

The distance and middle-distance groups continued to provide sparks for the Flames. Indigo Sterud delivered a standout performance in the Mile, navigating the pack to secure a ninth-place finish. Her time of 1:05.14 (converted/adjusted) represents the #5 all-time indoor performance in UIC history.

In the 400m, Praise Oyebanji turned in another consistent effort, battling to an 11th-place finish with a strong time of 58.38.

"As we wind down our regular season, our focus is shifting to the Championship portion of our schedule, and we are excited to put together a strong effort in a few weeks."
